Playful Kiss on Philippine TV

In a few more days, on May 30 to be exact, Philippines’ GMA network will be airing the Korean drama Playful Kiss. I’m not so sure if I should be happy or sad about it. Haha! Well, I’m glad that Kim Hyun Joong will be getting more exposure but I don’t really like how GMA 7 dubs Asian dramas.
Playful kiss is the Korean adaptation of the Japanese manga Itazura Na Kiss. An earlier adaptation of the manga is It Started With A Kiss (Taiwanese). The Taiwanese version is more dramatic compared to the Korean version, while the Korean versions stays more true to the manga. I like both versions in their own ways.
I don’t like dubbed dramas in general for several reasons. First, I like to hear their real voice, watching Tagalog dubbed dramas makes me feel like I’m watching anime. Second, they change the dialogues to sync it with the mouth movements. Third, they sometimes alter the ending.
Anyways, I’m still going to watch the Tagalog dub version of Playful Kiss… for the love of Kim Hyun Joong. Here’s GMA’s teaser courtesy of princessfiony @ YT.
P.S. I laughed when I found out the Tagalog dub names of the characters… Gelo Baek and Honey O. Why didn’t they just use the real names? And the voice of Baek Seung Jo sounds like Gu Jun Pyo’s of the Tagalog dub version of Boys Over Flowers.
