I'm so sorry for the lack of update here. Been busy helping my cousin look for a breedlove guitar and it's taking a lot of time and effort. She plays the guitar (obviously) and this is her addiction (and I'm helping her feed it haha). Been busy with other stuff, too. Also, I am trying to clean my room (again and again)... trying to organize my stuff and de-cluttering, too. Hopefully, I'll get some stuff done this week.

Its not usual for me to be very observant during parties but I attended one sometime last week and noticed something new. I found a logo printed table runner of the hosts' table and thought it's really cool and unique. It's my first time seeing something like that, obviously, and didn't think something like that can be done now. It gave me a lot of ideas actually and will definitely suggest the idea to friends who will be hosting parties soon.

How to Download and Share your Facebook Look Back Video

ETA: screenshots and instructions for Firefox browser.

Facebook is celebrating its 10th birthday and, as a thank you, is giving its members a way to Look Back or relieve some of their special moments shared on the said social networking site. Facebook is offering each member a personalized video or a thank you card, depending on how much you've shared on the their site.

Now, since Pixel-Dust is also about memory keeping, I'm sharing here a way to download your own Look Back video on for you to keep or share on your Facebook wall, YouTube channel, or blog. Thanks to Kimworld for sharing the Chrome browser instructions. Click on the screenshots to view full size.

Instructions for Chrome browser:

1. Go to https://www.facebook.com/lookback in a Chrome Browser.

2. Click the menu bars in upper right hand corner and select Tools > Developer Tools. A window will pop on top of the browser window.

3. Click on “Network” tab of the window that popped up.

4. Click on the video so that it plays. You may have to play it a few times but eventually you will see a name roll through that has a type that is “video/mp4.”

5. Right click your mouse on the name/path of that video/mp4.

6. Select “Open in New Window.”

7. On the new tab, right click again. Select “Save Video As”

8. Name it and save it on your computer. Now it’s yours.

Instructions for FireFox browser:

1. Go to https://www.facebook.com/lookback on a Firefox Browser.

2. Right click on your window and select Inspect Element.

3. A window will appear at the bottom of your screen. Click on the Network tab.

4. Reload the page and make sure that you play the video on HD. Look at the network tab again and look for the domain lookbackvideo4-a.akamaihd.net.

5. Right click on the domain and choose "Open in new tab."

6. On the new tab, right clock again and choose "Save Video As."

7. Type the filename for your video and save.

I'd like to remind you again, when saving using FireFox browser, don't forget to play the video on HD before saving. Else, you'll be saving the low quality version of the video.

I made the instructions for the Firefox browser, please credit as you repost and please no hotlinking. Thanks!

Hope this helps, happy downloading!

DIY Acrylic Spray

I've been meaning to start a smash/junk/creative journal but I don't know where to begin exactly. It looks intimidating for me, not to mention a little expensive hobby based on the materials that I see others use. Haha. Anyway, I thought to myself that I should at least know how to make the backgrounds and make use of whatever resources I have on-hand, I am a self-confessed hoarder, after all. Haha! So, I watched videos on YouTube and saw one where the artist used her homemade acrylic spray. That one, I gave a try...

Materials I used are a spritzer bottle or what I call atomizer, tubes of acrylic paint, water and beads.

I tried the green color first. I just squeezed some in the bottle, added a little white and yellow to make it lighter and lime-ish. I also placed a bead inside the bottle to make mixing a little easier, just make sure that the bead is bigger than the tube hole so it won't get clogged. Just keep on shaking until the paint is thoroughly dissolved in the water. I saw some tutorials which also add alcohol. I really don't know what's the difference and thought I'd try one without alcohol first and it seems fine to me. Here are some sample sprays I did on tracing paper (left) and eggshell paper (right).

Here's a close-up look at the tracing paper.

It looks really pretty! It did crumple the paper a bit but I like it, especially if I touch it and feel the texture.

The atomizer or spritzer bottle I got from the weekend market where I live for P10 a piece. Really very cheap! I bought 5 pieces and will be buy more when I get back next week. I also need to buy more acrylic paint. The one I have is the 6-piece set and that already includes the black and white. I need more color variations.
