HOT!

April 26th, 2013 Pixie Blogger

It is scorching hot this summer, I am perspiring everywhere. I perspire even when I’m just sitting down and I’ve even discovered parts of my body which I didn’t know could perspire. Haha! How I wish we had jacuzzi bathtubs in our house, because I’d love to soak in one right now and stay there for hours, it would feel so refreshing. I would love a swimming pool even more, but we don’t have the space for one so I’d settle for the bathtub. I can just imagine it now … me, entirely covered with bubbles while reading a book and listening to my favorite songs … complete with yellow rubber duckies floating around me. I even imagine giving my dog Bailey a bath in it. It’s free to imagine, right?

Well, what I’m imagining just could come true. I was doing some online window shopping when I saw these whirlpool baths on sale at whirlpoolbathtubs.com. The discounts are huge, so I told my mom about it. On the site they have a lot of products to view, and they’re amazing! Anyway, she said it’s perfect timing because she’ll be receiving her retirement bonus soon and she might buy a couple of whirlpool baths as a retirement gift for herself and for all of us at home. Our bathrooms, after all, are built and ready to have the bathtubs installed.

We already told the kids about it, and they were ecstatic when they heard the good news. I’m super excited myself, too, and I can’t wait! It’s really perfect especially since the weather seems to get worse every year, and I’m predicting that next summer will be even hotter than this year’s. Plus, I really need a spot where I can relax and de-stress after a long week of hard work… working with design is really mentally draining, I’m telling you, and I need to de-stress and recharge regularly for my brain to keep on functioning.

Spa Business

April 17th, 2013 Pixie Blogger

I have a friend who owns a spa business and it is very exciting to watch her business grow. I remember when it was just starting out and she posted pictures of the developments on her Facebook account. She started posting plans and sketches for the soon-to-be spa haven. Then she posted pictures of the construction and updated the album with every little progress made. Of course, one of the exciting parts was shopping for furniture and spa stuff she would use. I helped her shop and I remember both of us getting so excited and giggling while shopping for the stuff that they needed…. from small towels to curtains, hot tub covers to the hot tub filter, everything was handpicked by us and a couple of other friends.

She ordered most of the spa stuff online, and she was glad she did because it was very convenient and hassle-free, plus, it saved her a lot of time and effort. If you’re starting a spa business or know someone who is, I suggest you check out America’s Spa-Mart, you can visit the site here. It’s a shop for spa owners looking for quality products at great prices. They offer top quality spa hot tub covers, hot tub filters, spa chemicals, hot tub cover lifts and accessories, and a whole lot more. They also offer guaranteed secure shopping and free shipping within the United States for orders over $100. Now, that’s a great deal, isn’t it?

Anyways, back to my friend’s spa business, it’s turning two years old soon and we are now planning a huge anniversary celebration. Right now they have a couple of raffles for their customers and they’re giving away cool gadgets like smart phones and tablets. For the anniversary date itself, there’s going to be a huge spa party for free. It’s just too exciting and I can’t wait! I hope there’s a great turn-out for the celebration.

Flowers

April 17th, 2013 Pixie Blogger

Do you know of anyone who is looking for unique but low priced wedding flower bouquets? They might want to check out the wedding flower bouquets at Global Rose. They have a diverse selection of bridal bouquets including some most unique ones. I actually had a lot of fun looking at their pre-made bouquets and they’re all very pretty… makes me want to get married soon or set up an event that would require a lot of flowers and different floral arrangements.

They not only offer bouquets but they actually sell wholesale flowers. They have a wide variety of flowers in different stem lengths and color selections, so I’m sure you can find what you’re looking for through their store. Imagine this, they offer more than ninety diverse colors of roses and over fifty species of flowers … that’s a lot! I can only name a very few, including my favorite which are lilies, and the only colors of roses that I am aware of are red, pink, white, yellow, orange and the occasional dyed blue and black ones. I checked their rose varieties and I’m really loving the blush and the purple roses. As for the other flowers, I still love my lilies.

If you are looking for roses in particular then you should visit their site because they specialize in all kinds of roses, and I’m sure they sell cheap roses, too so you can afford them. They guarantee to offer the best price in the market and they offer next day delivery and free shipping, too. Now that’s a great deal, isn’t it? Tweet this to your friends, maybe one of them is looking to buy flowers right now!

If you are not looking to buy, but loves flowers, you can also check their flower care section. There’s a lot to learn there, including flower descriptions and consumer life. Plus, there also have “How-to-make DIY” videos. What an amazing site with so much information and variety!

Still Dreaming of Guitars

March 31st, 2013 Pixie Blogger

Yes, me owning a guitar is still a dream but I really hope to make it come true very soon.

I accompanied my friend to the mall the other day to scout for cheap but good quality drum practice pads when we saw this music store which is having a sale. Oh my guitars… I was really tempted to buy one already but as much as I’d love to, I didn’t have the budget. Sigh.

So, I’m thinking… I have this violin which I never use (the strings just needs to be replaced because one broke when my cousin tried to play it) and I’m thinking of selling it. Then I’ll save the money for my guitar. Now, that’s a plan, right?

Daiso

March 17th, 2013 Pixie Blogger

Ever heard of Daiso? It is a franchise shop in Japan that sells items at a low price. We have a couple of versions of that shop in my country called Saizen and Japan Homes. Both also sell items originally from Japan and most are from Daiso itself.

These stores are my second favorite, next to the bookstore. I could spend hours just going around and checking out their items. Like what I always tell my mom, their items are either too cheap or too expensive for the price. I always always go home with something whenever I visit these stores. Last time I was tempted to buy this cigar ashtray as a gift for someone but I ended up buying these:

Yes, that’s the circle cutter that I posted about a few weeks ago plus another cutting mat.

Can’t wait to go back there and get me some new loots!

Greenhouse

March 14th, 2013 Pixie Blogger

I chanced upon this site about greenhouses and it made me miss our old house. It has a spacious backyard where my sister, cousins and I used to play when we were kids. Next door was my cousin’s house and they had a nipa hut in their backyard. Sigh, I miss those backyards because our houses right now don’t have one. Those backyards were big, I could just imagine how my dog Bailey would love it. Yes, it is big enough to house a small greenhouse. I know because I used to dream of having a greenhouse where I could grow flowering plants and vegetables. My dad has a green thumb, too, and I could just imagine the different kinds of plants he could grow in there.

Anyways, like I said earlier, I chanced upon this site that sells greenhouses and I just found out that there are several types of them. You can click here to see them all. I’d still love to have one at home, even if just the small lean-to greenhouse, and I’m sure that my dad would love it too. My favorite one is the Garden Greenhouse Paradise. It is so elegant and luxurious. Bet that if we did have that, I’d be spending most of time in there… I’d even sleep in there. Another favorite of mine is the Luxury Greenhouse. It’s like having your house inside a big and luxurious garden. Can you imagine how refreshing and relaxing it would be to be inside that? I can imagine myself in one corner with my ebook reader and iPod with a cup of my favorite tea… I think I could stay in there forever. I’d love it more if it has a pool, too. Okay, enough daydreaming. Seriously, if you’re planning to have a greenhouse custom built, you should check out Gothic Arch Greenhouses. You can Tweet this, too, if you know of someone who’s interested.

Metal Gears

March 13th, 2013 Pixie Blogger

I’m looking at my Project Life right now and I noticed that it lacks embellishments. My issue with that is that scrapbooking supplies are not readily available where I live. There are a couple of scrapbooking stores that I know of but it’s a hassle for me to go there because they’re really that accessible especially since I’ll be commuting if ever. The bookstores also sell scrapbook stuff but they’re very limited.

I want to buy metal gears like bolts, cotter pin, and other metal pieces to give my pages that steampunk look. Worse comes to worse I’ll have to rely on a hardware store to get these. Haha!

Stand by, okay? I’ve found some pretty freebies and will post them here later.

Project Life: Essentials

March 9th, 2013 Pixie Blogger

It’s already the third month of the year and I still haven’t progressed on my Project Life. Tsk. Bad, bad girl.

But I’ve got my reason and excuses. Haha! First, my PL isn’t weekly or monthly because I do have very slow weeks and even months. So, I will only document events and memorable moments. But I’m planning to also do a monthly or quarterly wrap-up or something like an “in-a-glance” page or spread. What do you think?

Right now, I’m like 4 or 5 events behind. Haha! But I’m already sorting out the pictures and will have them printed soon. I can’t really work on my Project Life if I don’t have all the materials right in front of me in the flesh. I tried doing a digital version first but all I did was stare at my monitor.

In the meantime, I would just like to share Project Life essentials. These are the tools and supplies that I have and use. Honestly, I bought more stuff than what I actually need. But it’s okay because I’m a hoarder. Hahaha! Anyways, the ones below are the stuff that I actually used while doing a few pages of my PL (which I’m going to post in the next few days). Here they are with brief descriptions:

My Project Life album and page protectors. Self-explanatory. Haha!

Project Life Essentials

My new baby… Nikon Coolpix P510. I named him Razzi (short for paparazzi) and he’s in charge of all the gorgeous (or not! LOL!) photos that I’m going to document. He’s 50% in charge of the storytelling.

Project Life Essentials

Papers. I bought a watercolor papers and black cardboards and pre-cut them to 4×6 size so they’re ready anytime I need them. The watercolor papers are acid-free but I’m not sure about the black cardboards.

Project Life Essentials

Thickers. Again, self-explanatory.

Project Life Essentials

Date stamp and my hand-carved rubber stamps. I’ll have to change the ink for the date stamp, though because the Faber Castell brand takes a long time to dry and it’s not water-resistant.

Project Life Essentials

Glue stick and paper tapes for attaching photos and embellishments to the cards. The Leecho brand is acid-free.

Project Life Essentials

Paper cutter for the cards, corner rounder punch, a pair of scissors, and a hobby knife for my paper cuts.

Project Life Essentials

Pens, pens and more pens! It’s obvious that I’m a pen addict. Bottom to top: Dong A metallic pens, Sakura Pen-Touch White, Sakura Pigma Micron drawing pens (waterproof, fade proof, archival ink), Sakura Souffle (3-dimensional, opaque, waterproof on many surfaces, writes on plastics, coated papers, acetate, vellum and glass, color stands out on dark backgrounds), Staedtler Triplus Fineliner.

Project Life Essentials

And last but definitely not the least on my list of my Project Life essential tools and supplies are paints. I only use two kinds right now: watercolor and acrylic. Will try gouache paint, too, soon. I use these to color my cards and to ink my rubber stamps.

Project Life Essentials

For those who are planning to do Project Life, please don’t be overwhelmed with the essentials that I posted. Like what I’ve said, these are my essentials only… to each his own. I’m a frustrated art journalist and I’m venting out all that frustration on my PL. Haha! And i’ve said it again and again… I’m a hoarder.

Care to share your Project Life essentials? Please leave your link at the comment section. Thank you very much!

Guitar

March 7th, 2013 Pixie Blogger

Oh guitar… when will you be mine?

My friend posted his photo on Facebook. It’s a photo of him playing one of his epiphone acoustic guitars while he’s jamming with his band mates. I told him I want to buy a guitar and he answered “Game, I’ll accompany you when you buy.” How I wish it was that easy. Sigh. All my spare budget right now goes to my Korean addiction. But I’m not really regretting it.

My guitar will just have to wait…

Eraser Blocks

March 1st, 2013 Pixie Blogger

I love Divisoria! Went walking there for a couple of hours and look at what I found:

eraser blocks

Eraser blocks! Yay! And I got these for a steal… P120 ($3) for the whole box. That’s only P10 (25c) per piece. And did I say they’re huge? Here’s a photo with a ruler for comparison:

eraser blocks

Such a great find, right? Believe me, I was overjoyed when I saw these erasers because I was really on the lookout for big ones. The cheap price is just a bonus. Oh and I wanna go back to hoard buy some more. They’re perfect for my rubber stamp craft.

Now, I can’t wait to go back to Divisoria!
